MSZ JSC manufactures nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants (NPPs), marine propulsion systems and research reactors. Fuel is supplied in the form of fuel assemblies (FAs) for various reactor types of Russian design, both within and outside the Russian Federation. MSZ JSC is part of the management network of TVEL Fuel Company of the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom.
MSZ JSC also manufactures the control and protection system components: absorber rods and rod cluster control assemblies for reactor control and protection systems. The equipment is designed to control the reactor at its start-up, power operation and scheduled outage.
MSZ JSC pioneered the nuclear power industry establishment and development. It manufactured the fuel batch for the world’s first NPP in Obninsk.
MSZ JSC manufactures FAs for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN600, BN800, VK50 and EGP6 reactors as well as powders and fuel pellets. Complex and knowledge-intensive manufacture demands exceptional reliability, therefore MSZ JSC was one of the first in Russia to certify compliance of its quality management system with ISO 9000 international standard. Subsequently, MSZ JSC’s environmental management system was certified as complying with ISO 14001 requirements.
In 2023, MSZ JSC manufactured its 100-thousandth FA for VVER-440 reactor and 10 000th FA for the fast breeder (BN) reactor.
